New Partnership Enables Advanced Remote Orchard Surveying in New York and Washington State

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tyton Aviation and Outfield Technologies Awarded FAA BVLOS Approval

Issaquah, WA, and Cambridge, England – June 13, 2025 – Tyton Aviation of Issaquah, Washington, USA, in partnership with Outfield Technologies of Cambridge, England, proudly announce the award of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval allowing the operation of drone systems Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS). This groundbreaking capability allows the two companies to operate drones remotely for clients in New York and Washington State, providing greater flexibility and efficiency in orchard surveying, analysis, and reporting.

FAA Approval Enables Remote Drone Operations

Approved on June 13, 2025, the FAA BVLOS approval marks a significant advancement in agricultural drone technology. With this authorization, Tyton Aviation and Outfield Technologies are now conducting drone flights from anywhere in the continental US.                This completely removes the need for personnel on the ground to deploy and monitor the drones, a huge leap forward to bring remote sensing and data driven decisions to their clients in the horticulture industry.

Operational Achievements

Since the installation of the BVLOS drone systems, the New York site has completed 232 flights and the Washington State site has conducted 93 flights, totaling more than 80 flight hours as of mid-October 2025. Over 7 million tree-level assessments have been reported, an unparalleled level of insight for the growers using this data. Each drone system is capable of surveying up to 500 acres every 2 days within a 2-mile operational radius, ensuring thorough and timely coverage for orchard owners and managers.

Expansion Plans

Building on the success of the initial installations, Tyton Aviation and Outfield Technologies plan to expand their coverage by adding dozens of additional sites across the United States, with discussions already underway for 6 new units in the 2026 fruit season.       The partnership is also beginning trials to bring advanced drone surveying to vineyards, in collaboration with European wine producers and researchers.

Comprehensive Service Offerings

Tyton Aviation specializes in providing expert pilot services, ensuring safe and efficient drone operations, and world leading deployment capabilities to install the self-contained drone system in a matter of hours. Outfield Technologies complements these services with advanced blossom and fruit mapping analytics, mobile field work applications, and smart spray data outputs. Together, this      partnership is delivering a solution for growers so they can improve crop yield whilst reducing costs, helping secure US food security and boosting the economy.
